Redevelopment scheme for island
Work has got under way on a multi-million pound scheme to redevelop Knightstone Island in Weston-super-Mare.

The island, which was home to the town's swimming baths and a variety theatre, had been neglected for years.

Now it is being turned into a complex of more than 80 apartments.

Conservationists hope the success of the scheme will spark the redevelopment of the Somerset town's other landmarks, the Tropicana and Birnbeck Pier.
