Two arrested over care home death
A nurse and a chef who work at a residential care home in Somerset have been arrested and questioned over suspicions a 97-year-old was poisoned.

The police said the elderly woman died at the Parkfields home at Butleigh near Glastonbury on New Year's Day.

Rachel Baker, 45, and husband Leigh Baker, 48, have been released on bail.

Police are investigating one death at the home and it has been reported that as part of routine investigations, another six deaths are being looked at.

Mrs Baker, a registered nurse at the care home, was arrested on suspicion of administering a noxious substance.

Her husband was arrested and questioned in Yeovil police station on suspicion of being concerned in the administration of a noxious substance.

Police are conducting the investigation jointly with the Commission For Social Care Inspection.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "A number of issues surrounding the care of residents at the home are being investigated."
