Top marks for adult care services
Two Somerset councils have been awarded three stars for the quality of adult care they provide.

Somerset County Council was awarded the top rating for the third year running for providing "very good quality and reflecting value for money".

North Somerset council has risen from one to three stars in three years and was "serving most people well with excellent capacity for improvement".

Bath and North East Somerset Council achieved two stars.

The government's Commission for Social Care Inspection team looked at help given to people to live independently at home and support for those in paid work and for carers.

"I am absolutely delighted that we have been awarded the highest rating of three stars for our Adult Social Care Services for the third year running," said Miriam Maddison, community director at Somerset County Council.

Councillor Muriel Kraft for North Somerset said: "This is a glowing report which recognises the sustained investment by the council in adult social care and the significant progress we have made in improving services."
