Town centre gets £500k facelift
Historic buildings in the centre of Shepton Mallet are to undergo a £500,000 regeneration.

Money will also be spent improving residents' understanding of the town's history, and training local contractors in traditional building techniques.

The regeneration project is expected to start in April 2008 and will last for five years.

Mendip District Council won a bid for £250,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund which will be match-funded.
