Sun's rays power ticket machines

Eleven solar-powered ticket machines have been installed on the sea front at Weston-super-Mare.

The new machines which harness the sun's energy for power have been installed in Marine Parade as part of a series of road improvements.

North Somerset Council says the meters should make parking easier as motorists will not have to wait for a parking attendant to collect their fare.

Parking attendants would also be on hand to welcome visitors to the town.
