Cyclists plan Guildhall blockade
Dozens of cyclists are to blockade Bath's Guildhall in a protest over bike routes in the city.

Members of the Bath Cycling Campaign claim Bath and North East Somerset Council (BANES) isn't doing enough to promote pedal power.

And to highlight the issue, they plan to chain their bikes to railings at the Guildhall on Thursday evening.

BANES says it already spends on average 8 to 10% of its annual transport budget on cycling.

Bath Cycling Campaign group member Nigel Williams said: "Huge sums of money are spent on road improvements and a tiny amount is dedicated to cycling, but we have some of the worst pollution in Europe and horrific traffic congestion."

Earlier this year, members of the group boarded Wessex trains carrying ironing boards and other household objects after the company banned bikes from some of its services.
