First park and ride for Taunton
Taunton's first park and ride service has been unveiled to the public ahead of its official launch next weekend.

Six Taunton Flyer buses in distinctive livery will operate between Silk Mills and the town centre six days a week in the run-up to Christmas.

"We're creating a secure car park and have a fleet of new buses for commuters and shoppers," said Mark Pedlar, of Somerset County Council.

Work is now under way to identify a similar site to the east of the town.

Councillor Tony Shire said: "This is an exciting development for public transport in Somerset and follows the great success of similar services in Bristol, Bath and Exeter."

The park and ride site is part of the 14.5 million North West Taunton Package, which includes a road bridge across the mainline railway at Silk Mills.
