Driver critically ill after crash

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being found injured in his upturned car in Somerset.

The vehicle was discovered on its roof on a bend on the A39 near the Windmill pub in West Quantoxhead in the early hours of Thursday.

The driver is being treated for life-threatening head injuries at Frenchay hospital near Bristol.

Police closed the road for more than four hours while accident investigators examined the scene.
