Town honours man who saved Jews
Frank Foley
Mr Foley worked at the British Embassy in Berlin
Residents of a Somerset town have raised £20,000 for a statue to honour a man credited with saving thousands of Jews from the Nazis.

Frank Foley, who was born in Highbridge, issued false passports to Jewish people while working at the British embassy in Berlin in the 1930s.

There is already a street named after Mr Foley in Highbridge, but residents wanted a more high profile memorial.

Pam Lyes, of the Foley Committee, said: "I'm absolutely delighted with it."

The statue, which will be unveiled to the public in May, was paid for by donations.
