The trust says we need to reduce carbon dioxide emissions
A conservation charity based in Somerset suggests increased fuel prices are good news for the county's threatened environment.

Somerset Wildlife Trust said it was taking "a longer-term view".

A spokesman said: "Urgent action on reducing carbon dioxide emissions is essential if Somerset's wildlife and quality of life are to be maintained."

He added: "Road transport is responsible for around 22% of carbon dioxide emissions in the UK."

The Somerset Wildlife Trust, has more than 16,500 members and manages 77 nature reserves in the county.

The trust spoke out as fuel protesters in Wales showed their anger over price hikes with a slow-moving rolling convoy along the M4 during Friday's rush hours.

Around 100 lorries, buses and cars were among the protestors who began the slow moving convoy at 0740 BST.
