A new lodge building is to be opened at a Bath cemetery under an investment programme which will see the site extended to cope with future demand.
More than 20,000 people have been buried at Haycombe Cemetery since 1937.
The lodge, complete with a quiet room for bereaved families to complete funeral paperwork, will be opened by Councillor Nicole O'Flaherty.
The ceremony on Monday will also mark the site's Cemetery of the Year 2003 status with the unveiling of a plaque.
Council leader Paul Crossley will use the occasion to sign up to the Charter for the Bereaved.
The charter consists of 33 "rights" which bereaved people should be able to expect from the moment of their loved one's death.
