A dog who rescued a drowning man from a river has been found safe eight days after falling from a cliff.

Benson the boxer was feared dead when he disappeared near cliffs at Contisbury Hill, North Devon, as his owner Martin Greenwood took photographs

Mr Greenwood, from Somerset, was heartbroken when coastguards could find no sign of the dog.

Then on Thursday Benson was found at a pub several miles away on Exmoor, hungry and bruised, but otherwise well.

Benson and Mr Greenwood won a Royal Humane Society Award after they saved a man from drowning while on holiday.
