Foxes outwitted by pair of llamas

The llamas kick and spit if provoked
A Somerset farmer is protecting his heavily pregnant sheep from marauding foxes with a pair of llamas.

Three weeks away from lambing, Paul Webber, who farms at Axbridge near Cheddar, has brought in the native South American animals as protection.

Mr Webber is also hoping for an extra benefit from the pair next winter - a new woolly jumper.

He told the BBC: "People have kept them with chickens and they have done the job there."

He added: "They will surround the ewes if the ewes are threatened, like jealous, over-protective boyfriends.

"They aren't frightening to look at, but they are bold, and one-on-one with a fox, they would win.

"They haven't attacked me: I'm the hand that feeds them," he said.
