Unexploded bomb hampers carnival
Traffic ground to a halt near a seaside town after a road accident and the discovery of a World War II unexploded shell.

A suspected WWII device was found on a building site near Highbridge Railway Station on Monday afternoon.

Bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion after cordoning off roads around the station.

A fatal road collision on the A38 Huntspill Road near Highbridge was causing further delays.

Police said the elderly driver of a Nissan Micra car died after a collision with a Ford Transit van.

Thousands of people were expected in the Highbridge and Burnham on Sea area for the annual carnival procession.
