Dr Mo Mowlam, the former Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, is to hold a lecture at the University of Bath.

The lecture, entitled "Future difficulties we face on a global scale as individual nations", will take place on Tuesday 13 May at 1900 BST.

Admission is free, but tickets must be obtained from the university in advance.

Dr Mowlam, who resigned from office in 2000, is taking part in the Gerald Walters Memorial Lecture series, named after the first reader in humanities at the university.

In March, journalist and broadcaster Bel Mooney gave a free lecture at Bath, entitled "Beyond Freedom: Censorship and Taboo".
