Shropshire couple robbed in their own home

A Shropshire couple who walked home with a takeaway confronted a knife-wielding robber who, police suspect, followed them into their house.

The man was left with minor injuries after the incident on Monday in Towers Lawn, Market Drayton, at 2310 GMT.

Moments after the pair returned to their flat, a man wearing dark clothing walked in and demanded money.

He searched the flat before he and the male victim became involved in an "altercation" and the robber fled.

The suspect, described as white and possibly in his late teens, made off in the direction of Cheshire Street.

The victim suffered minor injuries to his hand and arm.

Pc Dave Bettison said: "It is possible the offender may have followed the two victims back from Cheshire Street, where they had collected a takeaway, as he entered their home just after they got back.

"A purse was stolen from the address but is not believed to have contained anything of value."
