Southwater 250m outline regeneration plans approved

Telford plans
The regeneration scheme was given first stage planning permission

Outline planning permission has been granted for a £250m project to regenerate a Shropshire town centre.

An application to build new civic offices, shops, cafes, bars and homes in the Southwater area of Telford was approved at a meeting on Wednesday.

Telford & Wrekin Council leader Andrew Eade said the project was one of the most exciting in the borough for years.

The development site spans the town park and Telford Shopping Centre, including Southwater lake and ice rink.
