Mother's tribute to ice fall boy

The mother of a 16-year-old boy who died after slipping on ice while he was out delivering Christmas cards have paid tribute to him.

Ashley Williams, from Shrewsbury, fell on ice in Bewdley Avenue on Sunday evening and died in hospital from head injuries on Monday.

In the past few days more than 700 people have signed up to a Facebook group in his memory.

Ashley's mother Julie said he had been her "best friend".

On Tuesday, dozens of teenagers gathered at Shrewsbury's Abbey Church to pay their respects to Ashley.

His mother said: "He would be overwhelmed and probably quite embarrassed if he knew just how many people adored him.

"He was just wonderful and I could never have asked for any more than him."

One of Ashley's best friends Josh Price described him as "such a caring lad".
