Business park work moves forward

Work is starting on the second phase of a business park scheme in Shropshire.

The programme for putting in roads and sewers at the site by a Muller plant in Market Drayton would take about six months, Shropshire Council said.

The authority said probably between 100 and 200 jobs would be created but stressed that was an estimate.

It added roads, sewers and gas would be added so there would be land available for firms. The site will be marketed in January.

Chris Hill, from the council, said: "We need to encourage local industry.

"We're looking for inward investment as well and we're trying to encourage our key business sectors - that's food and drink, creative industries and environmental technology.

"Those are the high-growth sectors and those are the sort of sectors that we've actually got, sort of companies that we've got in Shropshire, so we're hoping to get people like that to come."

In terms of jobs, he added: "It just depends on who we get. We can give some estimates. I'd say probably between 100 and 200 jobs, but it just depends."
