Date now set for major roadworks

A new date has been fixed for extensive repairs to one of Shropshire's busiest through-routes.

The work on the A41 at Standford Bridge was put back earlier this year over concerns people likely to be affected had not been properly consulted.

Telford and Wrekin Council said it was now planning to start the roadworks on Monday, 16 November.

The work will mean the road will be shut for up to three weeks and long diversions will be put in place.

Council officials said they had decided not to carry out the work both at night and day because it would cost too much and cause too much disruption to people living nearby.

However, they said there would still be some night-time working to ensure the repairs were completed as quickly as possible.
