Footbridge to close for repairs

A footbridge across the River Severn is to close during working hours for four days for urgent maintenance.

Shropshire Council will close the Porthill bridge in Shrewsbury so that the hangers connecting the bridge to overhead cables can be tightened.

Pedestrians and cyclists will be re-routed over the Welsh Bridge while the work is completed.

The bridge will close from 3 August between the hours of 0900 and 1600 BST. It will open during the evenings.
