Inquiries into fatal road crash

A person has been killed in a road accident in Shropshire.

West Mercia Police said two vehicles, a car and a lorry, were involved in the accident on the A41 at Woodcote, near Newport, during Thursday night.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, a police spokesman said. Inquiries into the crash are ongoing and are in their early stages.

The A41 was closed as a result of the crash and is not expected to reopen until midday.
