Boy struck by car critically ill

A seven-year-old boy is in a critical condition after being struck by a car in Shropshire.

He suffered severe head injuries in the collision which happened in Hadley Park Road, Leegomery, Telford, at about 1730 BST on Thursday.

The road was closed for three hours as police investigated the scene.

West Mercia Police said the driver had been questioned and no further action had been taken. Any witnesses have been urged to contact police.

The boy is being treated at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.
