Police investigating a serious assault on a 29-year-old man have offered a £10,000 reward for information.

The man was dragged through the broken windows of a car and subjected to a vicious attack on 1 June, police said.

Four men arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the incident in Urban Gardens, in Wellington, Shropshire, have been released on bail.

CCTV images have been released of a car which was seen in the area at about 0330 BST, the time of the attack.

The victim remains in a stable condition in hospital, a spokesman said.

'Encouraging witnesses'

Det Ch Insp Lee Davenport, who is leading the investigation, said the occupants of the vehicle may have vital information about the incident.

He said: "The vehicle shown in the images - which thanks to expert analysis we believe to be a dark coloured BMW - passed a camera on the way out of Urban Gardens at around the time of this assault.

"It is therefore possible the occupants may have crucial information about what actually happened that morning."

The reward is being offered for information that leads to a conviction in an attempt to encourage more people to come forward, he added.

"We appreciate there can be reasons why witnesses are reluctant to come forward so I would like to reassure anyone with information that we are able to provide them with the necessary, specialist support should they share that information with us."

More than 40 officers and support staff are working on the case.
