Alcohol ban in town moves closer

An alcohol ban on the streets in part of a Shropshire town has come another step closer.

Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet supported the use of new Home Office powers in the High Street in Dawley, Telford, on Tuesday evening.

There will be a vote on the issue at a full council meeting on Thursday.

There have been a number of public meetings to discuss drink-related violence in the Dawley area since the idea was first put forward.
