Man charged with tortoise selling

A 21-year-old man has been charged with eight offences relating to the illegal trade in tortoises.

The man, from Telford, Shropshire, was charged on Monday with seven offences of the prohibited selling of a specimen of an animal, West Mercia Police said.

He is also accused of one offence of furnishing false documents for the issue of a permit for an endangered species.

He was bailed to appear at Telford Magistrates' Court on 23 March.
