Adjudicator backs school mergers

The Schools' Adjudicator has backed council plans to merge four primary schools in Shropshire into two despite protests from parents.

The county council agreed in November to merge the Grange Infant and Junior schools and Mount Pleasant Infant and Junior schools.

Adjudicator Alan Parker said the plans were a "good and appropriate response" to the area's present and future needs.

The schools will now merge from September.
