More surgery for conjoined twin

The twins were joined from the breastbone to the top of the navel

A baby girl who was separated from her conjoined twin has had a successful operation to close her chest following heart surgery.

Faith Williams remains critical but stable at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The girl's twin sister Hope died after surgery to separate them on 2 December.

The girls, who had a shared liver but separate hearts, were born to Laura and Aled Williams, from Shrewsbury, on 26 November.

A hospital spokesman said Faith would need to undergo further procedures.

The parents said they would like to thank the staff who performed the procedure on Monday, and those who continue to offer Faith the highest possible levels of care.

Mrs Williams, 18, is thought to be the youngest UK mother of conjoined twins.

The twins were joined from the breastbone to the top of the navel.

Hope died because her lungs were too small to support her breathing.
