Men hunted over schoolboy attack

Police are hunting two men who attacked a boy as he made his way home after school in Shropshire.

The 12-year-old boy was walking along Silkin Way, Randlay, Telford, when he was attacked by the men who demanded he hand over his mobile phone.

When they realised he did not have one they assaulted him.

They are described as being about 18 years old and wore hooded tops, scarves covering their faces, jackets and dark-coloured trousers.

West Mercia Police said they were eager to trace a cyclist who rode past just before the incident occurred at about 1700 GMT on Monday.

A police spokeswoman said: "This was a very nasty attack. The victim suffered injuries to his head and legs and was extremely shaken by his ordeal."
