Landlord hurt in failed burglary

A landlord was assaulted when he disturbed a burglar he found at his pub in Shropshire.

The man was breaking into an office on the premises of The Crown in the High Street, Albrighton, at about 0320 GMT on Saturday, West Mercia Police said.

He hit the landlord over the head with what was believed to be screwdriver and a hammer and ran off in the direction of Wolverhampton with three people.

The landlord suffered minor injuries and the burglar left without any money.

The burglar was described as white, about 5ft 8in (1.7m) tall and thin.

He is believed to be in his late teens to early 20s and had short, dark hair.

He and the other three suspects were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

West Mercia Police have appealed for any information.
