Shop claim over cannabis factory

The people behind a cannabis factory at a Shropshire warehouse claimed they were renting the space to store stock for Chinese supermarkets, police said.

More than 1,000 cannabis plants were seized by West Mercia Police who raided a warehouse in Stafford Park, Telford, on Monday.

Officers are still trying to trace the people who rented the building.

DC Paul Stoddart-Crompton said those who grew the plants had probably moved onto another UK cannabis factory.

Officers found more than 1,000 cannabis plants in the building, which the owner thought was empty, police said.

Police said two men of "Chinese origin" had been seen running from the warehouse.
