River body post-mortem exam due

A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out earlier on the body of a woman which was pulled from the River Severn in Shropshire.

The body was seen floating downstream by anglers in Apley, near Bridgnorth, on Monday.

It was followed and recovered by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service using a boat shortly before 1130 GMT.

Formal identification of the body is expected to take several days, West Mercia Police have said.
