Theatre's late licence approved

The new theatre wants to stay open until the early hours

A late licence has been granted for a £30m theatre being built in Shrewsbury.

Environmental health officers had argued against giving Theatre Severn, in Frankwell, a licence until 0100 BST saying 2300 BST was more suitable.

But the later closing time has been agreed so long as the bars close at 0100 BST and the theatre is empty of customers by 0130 BST.

Theatre spokeswoman Lezley Picton said it would only be open until that time on rare occasions.
