The boyfriend of a woman who went missing five days ago has appealed for her to contact him.

Jody Evans, 24, said he and Mandy Franks, 40, went out in Shrewsbury on Saturday evening but had an argument and she had not been seen since.

Police want to speak to anyone who spoke to her in the Reflex club, in particular a man with a ponytail and another man she may have left with.

Detectives have said they believe she may have "come to harm".

Det Ch Insp Jon Groves said more than 50 officers were involved in the search and a major inquiry had begun.

'Out of character'

Ms Franks was reported missing on Sunday afternoon.

Mr Evans said he and Ms Franks had been in the Frank Cafe Bar, in Frankwell, Shrewsbury, until about 2130 BST.

He told a press conference Ms Franks was upset when he went to meet a friend.

He said: "We had both had a few drinks and she was not very happy that I was going to meet my friend, but it was a prior arranged meeting."

Officers said they were "fairly certain" Ms Franks walked from Montgomery's Tower pub to the Reflex club on Saturday evening or in the early hours of Sunday.

They want to confirm that she was at the nightclub, as the last positive sighting of her was at about 2215 BST.

Mr Evans said: "I tried all night to text and ring her as I realised she wasn't at home.

"I started to ring her friends, I even spoke to the hospital.

"I became increasingly worried as it was out of character. She has never stayed away before."

'Get in touch'

Fighting back tears, he added: "Please come home Mandy, I just want you back. I'm desperate to know that you are safe and well.

"You are the love of my life, you know that. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and you mean everything to me.

"Please, please get in touch."

Mr Groves said officers were concerned for the safety of Ms Franks, who is described as white, 5ft 8in (1.73m) tall with black, shoulder-length, straight hair.

She was wearing dark jeans, a black vest top and a thin black jacket when last seen.

"It is possible she has come to harm - we just do not know at this stage," Mr Groves said.

"We are appealing for information which might help the investigation and have several leads which we hope the public can help us with."
