Rock fall road opens a week early

A road which was closed to allow 16,000 tonnes of unstable rock to be removed has reopened a week ahead of schedule.

The A458 at Harley Hill, near Much Wenlock, Shropshire, has been shut for the last five weeks after rocks were found to be falling onto the road.

Council highways officials said they had also taken the opportunity to widen the road.

The road, which is between Shrewsbury and Much Wenlock, was also resurfaced before it reopened on Friday afternoon.
