Man , 87, tied up during burglary

An 87-year-old man has been tied up during a robbery in Warwickshire.

He was left lying on a bed at his home in the Attleborough area of Nuneaton after the burglary about 0700 BST.

The burglar, aged in his 30s and white, stole £45 and took £250 from the man's account after forcing him to reveal his PIN number, Warwickshire Police said.

In another incident being investigated, a man aged 83 was tied up and burgled in Nuneaton on 21 June after letting a stranger in to get a drink of water.

Police said the 87-year-old man managed to loosen his hands and call police from a bedside telephone. His ankles were still bound when police arrived.

Det Con Andy Lea said: "Thankfully the elderly victim was not physically injured, although he was badly shaken by the experience, as anyone would be."

Police are still investigating how the robber managed to get into the property but reminded people to check windows and doors were locked, especially at night.
