Bleach causes damage in burglary

Bleach was sprayed and poured over items in a burglary near Shrewsbury, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Furniture, bedding, paintings, clothing, rugs, electrical appliances and walls were damaged at the property in the Lythwood area of Bayston Hill.

Electrical equipment and men's jewellery were taken in the incident.

A computer games console, flat-screen television and portable DVD player were among the items stolen on Friday.

Pc Glenys Whitelegg, who is investigating the incident, said: "Not only did the offender or offenders steal a large amount of valuable items, they also destroyed almost everything else in the property with bleach."

Anyone with information about incident should contact West Mercia Police or Crimestoppers.
