Rail commuters hit by vandalism

Train services were disrupted by vandalism on a Black Country line.

Vandalism at Tipton caused delays of up to 30 minutes affecting London Midland, Virgin Trains and Cross Country, National Rail Enquiries said.

Services from Rugby and Coventry to London Euston were hit while Arriva Trains Wales services from Shrewsbury to Birmingham stopped at Wolverhampton.

Shropshire motorists also faced delays after two lorries crashed on the A5 between Shrewsbury and Telford.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called at 0615 BST to the section of the A5 between Overly and Junction 7 of the M54.

A 41-year-old lorry driver from Shrewsbury was airlifted to hospital, with bruising to his chest, a knee injury and lower back pain, a service spokesman said.
