Rundown homes could be demolished

Sutton Hill
Residents put footage of the areas up on YouTube to highlight problems

Empty and rundown houses are to be demolished as part of a council plan to improve two Shropshire housing estates.

Earlier this year people living in Sutton Hill and Brookside filmed several "eyesores" and put the footage on YouTube to highlight the problems.

Now Telford and Wrekin's ruling cabinet has approved plans to regenerate the areas in the town.

The council said some of the houses are in urgent need of repair and others need knocking down.

In some cases they said they would be working with private landlords to sort the problems out.

In others compulsory purchase orders would be used to demolish the homes.
