Centre to support homeless people
A date has been set for the official opening of a day centre which will help homeless people.

The Shrewsbury Ark will be opened by Shrewsbury's mayor on Friday 14 March.

Project organisers, the Shrewsbury Christian Centre Association, said the aim was to offer support to the town's most vulnerable residents.

Volunteers have refurbished the building, a centre manager has been appointed and the place has been transformed, a spokesman said.

Tony Sharpe from the association said there had been quite a transformation.

He added: The main thing is to begin to set it up and get it open so that people can support something that is up and running and not something that is in the vast distance."

The association said the project's aim was to run a direct access day centre "for the most vulnerable residents of Shrewsbury, offering them advice and support in a warm and welcoming environment".
