Maternity services among the best in England
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust has been officially rated as one of the best in England for maternity services.

The independent Healthcare Commission Review looked at services offered by 148 hospital trusts.

The Commission looked at clinical focus, women-centred care and efficiency and capability.

The Trust is one of 38 best performing in England and comes top in the Midlands.

Hard work

Trish Rowson, Executive Nurse at the Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust said they were delighted with the results of the review and put their success down to the dedication and hard work of staff.

"The reviews also highlights the levels of choice given to women when they come into our maternity services and how well we work with our partners to make sure everyone gets the best possible experience and continuity of care," she said.

The report also highlighted areas where services could be improved.

The Healthcare Commission's Chief Executive, Anna Walker, said the experience of women was central to the review.

"The care given to women during pregnancy, birth and the time just after giving birth is extremely important to both the mother and the baby. It can have lasting negative effects if not handled correctly," she said.
