Football stadium set for weddings
New Meadow stadium
The new ground has replaced Gay Meadow stadium
Couples can now marry at Shrewsbury Town's new stadium after the football club was granted a licence to stage weddings.

The licence, issued by Shropshire County Council, also means civil partnership ceremonies can be held at the New Meadow ground in Oteley Road.

More than 50 venues in Shropshire, including stately homes, castles and village halls, now have licences.

The council said the stadium was a fantastic location to hold a wedding.

Karen Burton, from the council, said: "It is a wonderful new ground and offers a fantastic location for anyone - football fan or not - to get married, name a child, form a civil partnership or even reaffirm their marriage vows."
