Dog owners could also be fined for not picking up their pet's faeces

Dog owners could be fined 1,000 if they let their pets off the lead in part of Shrewsbury.

Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council is considering the measure for the Quarry after complaints dogs are not being controlled properly there.

Owners could also be fined if they fail to pick up their pet's faeces there.

Councillors are consulting with the county council over the issue and are expected to outline the details of the proposal later this month.
