An MP is highlighting opposition to proposals for a unitary authority in Shropshire in the Houses of Parliament.
Daniel Kawczynski, Tory MP for Shrewsbury and Atcham, said the bid should fail because three of the five district councils were against it.
Currently the county is run by the county council and five district or borough councils.
Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council is challenging the unitary authority plan in a judicial review.
In previous local consultations North Shropshire District Council and Bridgnorth District Council also opposed the plan.
Shropshire County Council, Oswestry Borough Council and South Shropshire District Council supported the move.
Mr Kawczynski has lodged an Early Day Motion at the Houses of Parliament to register his opposition.
An Early Day Motion is a motion put down on the order paper by members of Parliament calling for a debate on a particular subject.
