Famous landmark statue repaired
Lord Hill statue and column
Lord Rowland Hill was born in Shropshire at Hawkstone
A statue at a large landmark column in Shrewsbury is ready to face the public in the town once more after being shrouded in scaffolding.

The Lord Hill statue, which sits at the top of a 133ft (40.5m) column, is repaired every few years.

The column is one of the tallest Doric columns in the world and commemorates Waterloo general Lord Rowland Hill.

He was born in Hawkstone in 1772 and was second in command to the Duke of Wellington at Waterloo in 1815.
