Asbestos claim woman speaks out
Cancer sufferer
The woman lived near the MoD site which caught fire in 1983
A cancer sufferer who is suing the Ministry of Defence (MoD), claiming her illness was caused by being exposed to asbestos, has spoken of her plight.

The 31-year-old from Telford, who does not want to be named, said she was certain a fire in 1983 at the MoD site near Donnington was to blame.

She said she thought the white asbestos flakes which dropped in the area were "just like snow".

The MoD has said it is looking into her claim.

'Not fair'

The mother-of-three said her father briefly worked with asbestos but she did not believe that was the cause of her illness.

She said: "This is a killer disease and I know it's killing me and I'm going to die from it.

"That's the hardest part, being told your going to die and having your whole life taken away from you before you've even had chance to live it.

"It's just not fair, it shouldn't happen to me, it shouldn't happen to anybody."
