By-election win for parking group
A group formed to oppose the imposition of car parking charges has won a council seat.

The by-election in the Dawley Magna ward of Telford & Wrekin Council was won by Adrian Williams of the Telford & Wrekin People's Association.

He won the seat with 649 votes, 173 ahead of the Labour candidate.

The by-election was caused after Phil Davies resigned as council leader to become director of the volunteer network Regional Action West Midlands.

Turnout 22.5%

Thursday's result still leaves Labour as the largest group on Telford & Wrekin Council with 26 seats, two less than the combined opposition on the authority.
