Teacher jailed for sex with pupil
A PE teacher has been sentenced to two years in jail for having sex with a 15-year-old schoolgirl.

Neil Batkin sent her flowers and took her to a Birmingham cinema where there was less chance of being recognised, Shrewsbury Crown Court heard.

The 25-year-old, from Prees Green near Whitchurch, Shropshire, was having a relationship with another teacher at the same time.

He was told he had abused his position of trust.

'Full of remorse'

The court was told he ended his relationship with the pupil by sending her a text message.

When the girl told relatives, Batkin confessed to police and lost his job.

The judge said that he accepted that Batkin was full of remorse and added that the incident was a tragedy for both him and the girl.

He was ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
