A Shropshire-born golfer instrumental in Europe winning the Ryder Cup is among those mentioned in this year's New Year Honours list.
Ian Woosnam, who was born in Oswestry, already has an MBE and now becomes an OBE for his services to sport.
Also on the list is octogenarian Bill Harris, chairman of Shrewsbury's Senior Citizen Forum, who is appointed an MBE for services to the community.
Mr Harris, 86, has been instrumental in setting up a national forum.
He said: "I regard it as an honour for my committee. We have achieved a lot."
