Drug scanner on panel's wish list
A drugs scanner and a text messaging service for children could be tried out following the latest meeting of a crime prevention panel.

Police, council and community members of the panel in Telford plan to rent the Iron Track scanner.

It can detect small traces of drugs on people's hands and has already been used by Staffordshire Police.

Young people could also sign up for a text messaging service which would send out safety messages direct to mobiles.

There are also plans to improve youth facilities around Telford, set up community poster displays and consider a late bus from Oakengates.
